Artist's Statement:
As a landscape painter my inspiration comes mostly from nature. This show, however, sparks an old interest of creating sculpture.
Last summer I noticed an unusual number of jellyfish floating along in Quahog and Casco Bays. So naturally I began painting them (in somewhat abstract forms).
When 44° Latitude invited me to participate in the show, I knew it would be "all about the jellies".
In my basement an unused antique end of a wooden lobster trap has captured my attention for years. What to do with it? Make a sculpture, of course!
Inspired by nature and by a man made maritime object, I have created "Jellyfish".
