Brief
Bio:
I moved to Maine from Connecticut in 1974. After studying
art in New York and Europe I received a BA from the
University of Maine in Augusta, and I continued to expand
my experience doing month long residency programs in
Vermont. Throughout this time I have been painting and
exhibiting my work in galleries throughout Maine.
In the summer I work outdoors using oilsticks and watercolors.
In the winter I work in my studio using acrylics on
wood or mesonite painting local scenes in a folk art
style.

Artist's
Statement:
My goal with "Hang On" was
to combine simplicity, practicality, and color with the nostalgia
of this reclaimed sign from the stern of someone's boat.
Though I initially had a different transformation in mind,
the sign dictated its own purpose and I just did the work.
The sign from the stern
of a boat that I selected for my donation to the auction lent
itself to my folk art style-simple, honest, nostalgic, and
PRACTICAL is what it wanted, so that is what it got: a colorful
coat rack titled "Hang On"....
