Brief
Bio:
My art is based on nature and painting from life. Whether
painting a landscape or portrait, I strive to convey
a sense of time, place and quality of light. I am most
concerned with the result and will use a variety of
means to achieve the desired effect. The common thread
throughout my art is an emphasis on drawing, not with
calculated precision, but with a freedom that results
in a fresh impression.

Artist's
Statement:
Most of my
painting activity is done on location, directly from nature
and usually in one session, though there have been paintings
that required multiple sessions. This work was painted
on Marsh Island looking toward Loud's Island. The rope
"frame", the rudder and tiller all came from
Atlantic Challenge.
