Brief
Bio:
After a twelve year career of painting murals on the
east coast of the United States and England, I have
concentrated on water colors. I have developed a non-traditional
approach of saturated color and flat objects. Although
my paintings are realistic, I am now more interested
in shapes, colors, and patterns than in reproducing
the subject matter. Expressing my thoughts and feelings
about what I am painting is my reason for being an artist.
Perhaps my paintings bring something new to the viewer.

Artist's
Statement:
This construction is a combination of
international code flags and Tibetan Buddhist prayer flags.
Code flags signal important, often urgent, messages. Prayer
flags, usually hung in trees, are made to express gratitude
for the blessings of this life. The bounty and beauty of our
planet are in danger unless we become more mindful of the
dangers that we face.
This piece has fifteen flags. Five are alphabet flags that
spell PEACE. The remaining ten are icons symbolizing what
we revere about our small planet. Several flags have bells
to call attention--to wake us up to the challenges we face.
